Generally, Alkabase is a blend of alkaline salts used to correct the pH in the digestive tract, and by extension, eventually the entire terrain (the body’s fluid system) by alkalizing the duodenum.

Cells in the stomach secrete the alkaline salts necessary for the digestive organs. The formation of hydrochloric acid is a by-product of this synthesis. Digestive troubles resulting from ablation of the stomach are actually due to a deficiency of the production of basic salts rather than a hydrochloric acid deficiency.
